This is the third instalment in a series of seven articles looking at the Chakras.
Chakra Three: Solar Plexus Chakra – Manipura.

Element: Fire.
Ego, identity oriented to self-definition.
Located just above the navel, stomach area.
The Solar Plexus Chakra is known as the power Chakra, located in the solar plexus. It rules your personal power, self confidence, willpower, and autonomy as well as your metabolism.
It connect us to your will power, self consciousness, individuality, ego, lower emotions (mind games).
This Chakra brings us energy, effectiveness, spontaneity, and non-dominating power.

Physical: Digestion, muscles, pancreas, liver spleen, gall bladder, kidneys, stomach and diaphragm (breathing).
Gland: Pancreas.
Colour: Yellow.
Sense: Sight.
Scents: Lavender, Rosemary.
Crystals:Amber, Topaz.
Bija Mantras/ Seed Sounds: Ram.
Musical Note: E.
Sun Tone 126.22 Hz.
When the Manipura Chakra is working you feel empowered and are comfortable with that. You have sense of self and purpose, You let go of what no longer serves you.
When the Manipura Chakra is imbalanced you can have digestive issues, eating disorders, ulcers, diabetes, issues with liver, colon and pancreas. You can be aggressive, needy, be rigid in your thinking or have a victim mentality. You can be controlling, have a lack of self esteem and direction.
To balance the Manipura Chakra you can experience nature – golden sunlight, imagine fields of wheat or sunflowers bathed in sunshine – contemplate on this. You can have a Reiki or Sound healing session .

Please make sure the Yoga poses listed for each Chakra are appropriate for you. If you have any history of illness or injury, please be sure the postures are safe for you to do before you practice. Each posture has contraindications. Please ensure you are familiar with these before trying a pose. Some times the best course of action is not to do the pose. If you do decide to practice – do so mindfully and back out of the posture if it doesn’t feel right for you in any way.
It’s generally considered better to open the Chakras from the lower Chakras up. Starting with a solid foundation and building up from there.
